North American literatures: Polyphony 

Based on Parable of the Sower, Parable of the Talents (O. Butler) and Station Eleven (E. St John Mandel), the course will focus on how science fiction and dystopia tackle environmental issues (climate anxiety), the collapse of institutions, faith and belief systems, government, education, transmission and legacy (culture, literature, art and memory…) through the analysis of narrative forms and themes. The course is in continuous grading, and requires engagement. Attendance is compulsory. RSE is mandatory if you cannot attend each class. 

– written and oral comparative analysis, thematic analysis 

– text commentary & theoretical framework

– writing consistent arguments with clear examples, using primary sources and secondary sources
