North American literatures

This class explores key themes in North American literature through the lens of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, focusing on questions of conformity, rebellion, institutional power, and individual freedom. Drawing from the novel’s historical and cultural context, students will examine how literature can reflect (and challenge) societal norms, particularly around mental health, authority, and gender.
